John Sterba holds an MBA from Harvard University, a law degree from Duke University and two chemical engineering degrees from Cornell University. He practiced investment securities law with Sullivan & Cromwell.

Before founding IMA, John managed its predecessor since 1979. He has served as a Vice President of a publicly traded investment company, a securities analyst at Kidder, Peabody & Co., and a partner, advisor and director of private investment funds.

John is the author of Fundamentals of Personal Investing, a director of a mutual fund and a chapter author in Handbook for Corporate Directors. John is a managing officer of the Harvard Business School Club of New York, and has been featured in numerous interviews and broadcasts
